Job Summary:
Our client, who is in the hospitality and lodge management industry, is seeking a Head Storeman to join their team. The Head Storeman will be responsible for managing all stores operations at a remote lodge, including inventory management, procurement, stock control, and supervising store staff. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and a strong communicator, capable of working independently in a remote environment while ensuring high standards of operational efficiency and accuracy.
Responsibilities:
Oversee and manage all store operations, ensuring adequate stock levels and proper storage of all items.
Prepare, process, and follow up on weekly and emergency orders from procurement teams and local suppliers.
Maintain minimum par stock levels according to company and lodge guidelines.
Supervise receiving, unloading, issuing, and proper storage of all stock items.
Monitor inventory requisitions from departments to ensure accuracy, appropriateness, and authorization.
Maintain proper stock rotation to avoid obsolescence, using the First Expired First Out (FEFO) method.
Conduct mid-month and month-end stock counts, investigate variances, and reconcile with supporting documentation.
Maintain accurate records of all stock movements, including bin cards, receipts, and issues.
Ensure storerooms are secure, organized, and accessible only to authorized personnel.
Report any discrepancies, losses, or suspected pilferage promptly.
Maintain high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and safety within the stores.
Supervise, train, and mentor junior store staff on stock control, documentation, and company procedures.
Support lodge departments with guidance on requisition procedures and stock handling.
Build and maintain professional relationships across all departments to ensure smooth store operations.
Diploma or Degree in Procurement, Logistics, Stores Management, Accounting, or a related field.
Minimum of 4 years’ experience in stores, warehouse, or inventory control, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or senior storeman role.
Proven experience managing end-to-end store operations, including stock control, stock counts, and variance investigations.
Experience in hospitality, lodge, or remote camp operations is highly advantageous.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word; experience with inventory systems (e.g., PanStrat) is a plus.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and team management skills.
Honest, reliable, disciplined, and able to work independently under minimal supervision.
Detail-oriented, organized, flexible, and able to work under pressure in a remote lodge environment.
