Job Summary
Our Client, an Insurance Company is seeking a young, dynamic, and highly motivated Mechanical Engineer or Automobile
Engineer to join the team as the Motor Claim Manager. This role is ideal for individuals with experience in motor claims and will oversee and manage the processing of vehicle insurance claims, ensuring efficient and accurate claim handling while maintaining high customer service standards and compliance with regulations
Responsibilities;
- To perform adequate inspection and negotiation of claims with a view to reducing
leakages and controlling claims cost using internal or external resources.
- Assess physical damage to engineering and other general properties like motor
vehicles and plant & and machinery.

Investigate causes of damage to provide detailed reports for insurance claims and risk
assessment.

Conduct risk surveys for insurance underwriting purposes, ensuring compliance with
industry standards.

Advise on loss mitigation measures, safety improvements, and risk management
strategies.

Perform asset valuations for insurance purposes, covering various models and make
of the vehicles.

Prepare detailed technical reports outlining findings and recommendations for insurers
and clients.

Travel extensively across Tanzania to conduct site assessments and investigations.
- Review claims application to determine adjustment treatment

Technically adjust claims to the least possible cost

Investigation of suspicious/fraudulent claims below approved limits

Assessment of claims and appointment of loss assessors or external investigator when
necessary, using a brief of appointment

Proceed to inspect, negotiate and/or adjust claims by calling the repairer, visiting the
location of the vehicle or third-party element.

Follow up on report from loss assessor/ Engineer/Investigator, where necessary
- Review adequacy and accuracy reports submitted by appointed loss assessors,
engineers, and other professionals to facilitate prompt payment of claims.

Complaints resolution and dispute management emanating from adjustment &
negotiation

Review of reserve, if necessary, based on negotiation outcomes.

Preparation of case studies

Custodian of repudiated claims and case studies

Pass on the file to team lead

Monitor the activities of the Accredited Garages

Keep and send a daily report of activities to the team leader

Carries out any other assignment delegated by the Motor Claim Head or CEO Head
from time to time.
Requirements
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field a similar
field.
- Minimum 2 years’ work experience, with adequate technical experience in insurance
claims adjustment and negotiation or other related areas.
- Strong analytical and investigative skills.
- Excellent report writing and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to field conditions.
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
- Willingness to travel frequently across the country.
- Basic knowledge of insurance principles is an advantage (training will be provided).
- Knowledge of data analytics, forecasting methods, MS Office (Excel, Word,
PowerPoint, etc.).
- Familiarity with risk assessment, asset valuation, or insurance is a plus
- Proficiency in technical report writing and data analysis
- Ability to deliver/ complete assignments timely.
- Good communication and people skills.
