Job Summary:
Our client is seeking an experienced and motivated Operator Trainer for their mining company. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering both practical and theoretical training on mining machinery across multiple operational sites. This critical role focuses on ensuring that machine operators are trained to a competent standard, their performance is regularly evaluated, and high training standards are consistently upheld. The Operator Trainer will play a key role in enhancing operator safety, improving machine efficiency, and driving overall operational performance.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, compile, and update training materials, manuals, and presentations for mining
machinery.
- Deliver hands-on and classroom-based training sessions to machine operators, ensuring
full understanding and compliance with operational standards and safety protocols.
- Evaluate the theoretical and practical knowledge of operators at the end of training
sessions to ensure competence and readiness.
- Provide detailed training reports and constructive feedback on operator performance
and development needs.
- Maintain and continuously improve documentation, operator notebooks, and training
records.
- Support the training team with on-site assessments and competency verifications as
needed.
- Collaborate with other departments (e.g., safety, HRD, operations) to align training
content with company objectives and site-specific requirements.
Requirements
- Grade 12 / Form IV or VI Certificate.
- Recognized certification in Facilitation, Assessment, and Moderation
- (Assessor/Facilitator/Moderator Certificates). On-site training can be arranged for the Assessor Certificate if necessary.
- Valid Driver’s License with appropriate code for Tanzania.
- Relevant training and operational experience in mining machinery (e.g., earthmovingequipment, trackless mobile machinery).
- Proven experience as a Mining Operator Trainer or in a similar mining training role.
- Hands-on operational knowledge of mining equipment and machinery.
- Experience in multi-skilled mining roles is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong organizational and reporting abilities.
- Computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in diverse, often remote
- environments.
- Background in blasting operations, trackless mining, or other specific technical mining areas (depending on company needs).
- Familiarity with HRD instructional techniques and adult learning principles.
