Our client, a boutique hospitality establishment, is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant to manage and streamline their financial operations. The role involves maintaining accurate financial records, overseeing inventory and cost controls, and supporting the financial sustainability of the property. This position is crucial for ensuring efficiency and transparency in financial operations, particularly with guest services, procurement, and daily operations, with a focus on delivering high-quality service in a nature-driven luxury environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day accounting tasks, including journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Monitor inventory usage and costs, particularly food, beverages, and guest amenities.
- Calculate and report cost per guest, meals per guest, and other relevant hospitality metrics.
- Ensure proper documentation and cost control of all purchases, stock, and supplies.
- Work with management to develop and monitor budgets and forecasts.
- Support payroll processing and statutory compliance (e.g., PAYE, NSSF).
- Liaise with external auditors and tax consultants when needed.
- Maintain digital and paper financial records in an organized and secure manner.
- Recommend and implement improvements to reduce costs and increase financial transparency
