Job Description
The Financial Accountant is responsible for the collection, processing, recording, reconciliation, and reporting of financial data. The role ensures the validity, completeness, and accuracy of source documentation while maintaining proper records of revenue, expenditure, assets, and liabilities. The position safeguards the integrity of financial information and ensures compliance with IFRS, statutory requirements, and internal policies.
Responsibilities
- Manage general ledger activities, including bank reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliations, and resolution of discrepancies.
- Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparation and posting of journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and provisions.
- Maintain and reconcile petty cash, imprest accounts, cash counts, cheque counts, and fund utilization reports.
- Prepare monthly financial statements, actuals reports, variance analysis, and detailed schedules in compliance with IFRS and group policies.
- Maintain and monitor the fixed asset register, including acquisitions, disposals, depreciation, and periodic physical verification.
- Review and approve payment documents and store requisitions, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and budget compliance.
- Coordinate internal and external audit requirements by preparing necessary documentation and resolving audit queries.
- Ensure proper documentation, record-keeping, and compliance with statutory, regulatory, and group financial reporting requirements.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce (Accounting) or Advanced Diploma in Accounting from a recognized institution.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) – Mandatory.
Minimum of 5 years’ accounting experience.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Office 365).
