Job Description
Our client from a logistics company is seeking a technically competent and detail-oriented Assistant Warehouse Manager to support the day-to-day operations of their warehouse. The role focuses on managing spare parts and consumables for the maintenance of fuel tankers and flatbed trailers. The ideal candidate will be responsible for stock accuracy, timely issuance of parts, technical categorization, and close coordination with both workshop and procurement teams. Flexibility for shift work and responsiveness to urgent operational needs are essential in this fast-paced transport and fleet maintenance environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in managing inventory of spare parts, tires, lubricants, tools, and consumables used in maintaining fuel tankers and flatbeds.
- Monitor and maintain appropriate stock levels; initiate timely reordering to prevent delays in maintenance operations.
- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming stock against purchase orders and technical quality standards.
- Maintain accurate stock records using ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Identify, classify, and categorize parts according to vehicle type (tractor, trailer, tanker) and technical specifications.
- Ensure correct labeling, safe storage, and compatibility tagging of all parts and tools.
- Issue spare parts and consumables based on authorized job cards or requisitions, with proper documentation.
- Track part issuance and record all stock movements in ERP or manual logs.
- Generate and submit inventory usage reports (daily, weekly, monthly) for internal stakeholders.
- Supervise warehouse operations including loading/unloading, shelving, and general housekeeping.
- Enforce safety protocols and maintain high cleanliness standards, especially concerning hazardous material storage.
- Support regular audits, cycle counts, and physical inventory checks to ensure system accuracy.
- Coordinate with the Workshop team to forecast parts demand for both scheduled and emergency maintenance.
- Collaborate with Procurement on sourcing of parts locally and internationally, offering technical feedback on suppliers and part performance.
- Work flexible hours, including rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and public holidays; respond to urgent part needs during breakdowns.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Warehouse Management, or related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a technical warehouse role, preferably in the transport/logistics or automotive industry.
- Strong knowledge of spare parts related to fuel tankers, flatbeds, and heavy-duty trucks.
- Hands-on experience with ERP/inventory systems and advanced Excel skills.
- Good understanding of Tanzanian logistics/transport industry practices and regulatory requirements.
