Job Description
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Geologist with a strong background in gold exploration and mining operations management for a dynamic opportunity in Tanzania. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Geology and a minimum of five years of hands-on experience in gold exploration within Tanzania. This position requires experience in both open-pit and underground mining operations, including blasting activities. The role will involve frequent travel to remote field locations, so candidates must be adaptable and prepared to work in challenging environments.
Responsibilities
- Conduct geological surveys and exploration activities to identify gold deposits.
- Oversee and manage blasting activities in compliance with safety and environmental standards.
- Monitor and report on the progress of gold exploration projects, ensuring the timely completion of tasks.
- Manage both open-pit and underground mining operations, ensuring safe and efficient processes.
- Work closely with mining teams to implement best practices in excavation, drilling, and ore extraction.
- Maintain accurate geological records and prepare detailed reports for senior management.
- Provide guidance and training to junior geologists and other field staff.
- Ensure adherence to safety regulations and environmental compliance in all mining operations.
- Travel frequently to remote mining sites for exploration and operational management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Geology.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in gold exploration, particularly within Tanzania.
- Proficient knowledge of mining operations, including blasting, open-pit, and underground mining techniques.
- Strong understanding of geological software and tools used in exploration and mining operations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Kiswahili.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in remote field locations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Willingness to travel to and work in remote locations for extended periods.
